Field Engineer (Contractor)

Bixby Electric, Inc. is a growing electrical contractor performing all scopes of electrical construction as well as heavy civil construction throughout the Southwest and beyond. For over 30 years, Bixby Electric has provided the knowledge, experience, and capability to build, service, and maintain most every type of electrical installation including Distribution / Transmission, Commercial/Industrial, Traffic Signals, and Airfield Lighting. Bixby Electric is currently seeking a Field Engineer to join our team! The Field Engineer will be assisting the Project Team to deliver on time quality projects across all of our departments. We are seeking a detail oriented, dependable person with excellent verbal and written communication skills, a willingness to learn, and a candidate that isn't afraid to go out to projects and get in the middle of things.

Responsibilities:

  • Support all phases of the construction project life cycle

  • Prepare all Pre-Construction Documents / Schedules

  • Review Specifications for compliance

  • Review and develop Bill of Materials for Projects

  • Attend project meetings as necessary

  • Prepare contract billing/invoicing

  • Compile necessary reports

  • Review all site and project documentation

  • Collect and submit all necessary project documents:

  • Prepare Certificates of Compliance

  • Prepare, submit, and track project submittals

  • Purchase Materials / Track Deliveries

  • Prepare Purchase Orders

  • Submit required information for permits

  • Complete take-offs

  • Support field crews operations to complete tasks / projects

  • Set-up Project Storage Yards / Offices

  • Support Project Close-out

  • Other Duties as Assigned

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Mechanical, Construction, Civil, or Electrical Engineering

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel experience a plus)

  • Strong leadership qualities

  • The ability to multitask and prioritize

  • Outstanding professional written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong customer service skills with both internal and external customers

  • Valid driver’s license and insurable by company to drive

  • Willingness to travel to remote Project Sites Throughout the US and beyond

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test

Preferred:

  • 1 - 3 years construction related experience

  • Familiarity with Construction Management software

  • Previous use of Bluebeam, MS Project, Adobe Pro, Primavera 

  • Onsite Construction Experience a Plus


Summer Intern (Contractor)

Bixby Electric, Inc. is a growing electrical contractor performing all scopes of electrical construction as well as heavy civil construction throughout the Southwest and beyond. For over 40 years, Bixby Electric has provided the knowledge, experience, and capability to build, service, and maintain most every type of electrical installation including Distribution / Transmission, Commercial / Industrial, Traffic Signals, and Airfield Lighting. In addition to the electrical components of our projects, Bixby Self-Performs its own earthwork, concrete, structural steel, direction boring, and rock excavation for its private, municipal, state, and federal client.  Bixby Electric is currently seeking a Summer Intern who is detail oriented, dependable person with a willingness to learn.

 Responsibilities:

  • Support Management and Field Staff in the execution of Construction Projects

 Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an associate or 4-year degree program in Construction Management, Engineering, or technical trade related to Construction

  • All interns will be required to supply their own safety-toed boots (ANSI Z41.1); all other PPE provided.

 Program:

  • 3 Months late May thru Early August

Bixby Electric, Inc. provides a three-month summer internship program designed to provide all interns with direct exposure to the real world of heavy civil and electrical construction. An opportunity to get in equipment, perform some of the field installation tasks, and experience what it takes to perform work. In addition, Bixby will provide hands on exposure to the construction management process. You will have an opportunity to lean about estimating, pre-construction planning, submittals, billing, project close-out, and the “life-cycle” of a project in an office setting. Bixby Electric, Inc. is currently seeking an experienced Journeyman Lineman to install, repair, and maintain both underground and overhead electrical distribution systems and equipment.

Lineman Responsibilities: Installs, maintains, and repairs overhead and underground electrical distribution systems; Complies with safety standards and procedures; Operates required equipment safely and efficiently, and ensures equipment is well maintained; Supervises and teaches subordinate line workers

Required: Valid Lineman Certification or NM EL-01J; Minimum 2 years Journeyman experience in the required work; Valid Driver's License. CDL A license required within 3 months.; Strong understanding of electrical principles and be proficiency in all areas of line construction, both overhead and underground; Have a strong understanding of safe work practices and procedures; Skill in utilizing specialized equipment and tools required by the work performed.; The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; Rubber glove and hot stick experience; Climbing skills to enable work from wooden poles and metal structures; Experience with and the ability to work out of bucket trucks, lifts, or other elevated platforms at height.; Ability to work from drawings, schematics, one-lines, blueprints, survey points, and staking sheets; Ability and willingness to travel; Background check and clean pre-employment drug screen
